When we were offered the opportunity to review Sainsbury’s Bank’s guide on preparing for a new dog, we were both surprised and a little flattered. We’ve decided to share this guide with our blog readers as it’s fab and extremely factual… Preparing for a new dog

So let us investigate.  Are you ready to embrace the world of dog ownership?

COST.  Dogs are expensive little creatures… Food, Insurance, Health Checks, Vet appointments, A dog walker if you work (hint hint, if you live in Maidstone), Holiday Care, Equipment and TOYS… we get through 3 a week but then we own a terrier!  The list is almost as long as your arm.poppy1

BREEDER or RESCUE.

If you are a fan of our Facebook page you will know we don’t discriminate and we love ALL dogs (well all creatures, although Aunty Mazzie is a little scared of Hamsters) but we do try and help rescues where ever possible.  When searching for your new family member be sure to look for a reputable breeder, we all know it is hard to leave that sad-eyed looking furry friend behind but don’t agree to purchase a dog if you aren’t 100% sure about its background.  The kennel club has a list of breeders who may be able to help or if you decide to adopt a homeless hound check out your local dogs trust centre.

Of course, that’s just the boring bit, dogs are heap loads of crazy fun to.  But don’t be unprepared so check out the blog here… Preparing for a new dog and keep checking back for more.
